MAKE AN IMPACT
WHAT IS HEARTWISE?
Heartwise Homeschool is a vibrant, in-person enrichment program for homeschool families in Southern California’s Foothill communities. We create hands-on, joyful learning experiences that connect children to the real world—from S.T.E.A.M labs and cooking classes to poetry tea times, art studios, nature hikes, and field trips. Our mission is to nurture curious minds and compassionate hearts in a supportive environment where children feel safe and secure enough to be themselves.
Education is personalized, play-based, and community-centered. Our families come together not only to learn, but to build lasting relationships rooted in shared values and deep respect for each child’s unique path.

WHY HOMESCHOOL?
Homeschooling is more than an education model, it’s a movement grounded in flexibility, choice, and child-centered learning. Over 400,000 California students thrive in homeschooling, and that number continues to grow. Why? Because not all children thrive in the rigid structure of traditional classrooms. Many students, especially neurodivergent learners or those with sensitive, creative, or independent spirits, feel lost or unsupported in public schools. Homeschooling empowers families to build an education that meets their child’s academic needs, emotional well-being, and family values.
Programs like Heartwise make this possible by offering social connection, real-world learning, and enrichment opportunities in a supportive, collaborative setting.
WHY SUPPORT NOW?
New legislation (AB 84) threatens the homeschool model by cutting funding and requiring all instructors to hold state credentials. This would exclude the passionate professionals—artists, engineers, chefs, and others—who bring their expertise into our classrooms. In one year, California increased arts funding for public schools while proposing to eliminate the same opportunities for homeschoolers. This bill could dismantle co-ops like Heartwise that rely on flexibility, creativity, and community-driven instruction.
